Purpose of the Position
Under the guidance and supervision of the Regional Chief of Operations and within the context of Management for Results and the implementation of the Regional Risk Management Strategy, the incumbent monitors and analyses performance, analyses information, prepares reports, builds capacity and participates in the identification and implementation of regional operations priorities and support to Country Offices (COs).
Using corporate information tools, regular and specific CO reports and information gathered from other sources, contributes and participates in the analysis of performance and preparation of regional management reports. Participates in regional strategic operations planning discussion. Participates in the generation, management and sharing of knowledge on operational and management topics within the region including good practices and lessons learned. Provides recommendations for improved performance.
Participates in the analysis of business processes peer reviews and actively participates in Regional Office (RO) planning, coordination, capacity building, monitor and support activities to Country Offices in operations management areas. Supports COs in the adequate and timely preparation for internal and external audits, and monitors/follows up/supports the timely implementation of agreed audit recommendations.
As a member of the RO Operations team, contributes to the coordination, planning, implementation, capacity building, information gathering and reporting functions in relation to the rollout and application of Risk Management change management initiatives and other emerging operational priorities in both the ROs and COs. This includes analysis and improvement of work processes and implementation of assigned regional office operational tasks.
Participates in the review of the CO IB submissions and provides technical guidance and support to COs in the development of their budgets. Contributes to ensuring that the Country and Regional Office IB submissions are in compliance with the relevant Policy guidelines.
Supports the correct and consistent application of organizational policies and procedures in the management of Operations functions through the provision of technical leadership, advisory and Operational support at the Regional Office. Provides technical advice and support to the RO advisory committees. Supports the timely development, completion of the finance, budget and administrative components of the Regional Office Management Plan (ROMP).
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Advanced university degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field. Other accounting or auditing credentials are desirable.
** A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. **
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional work experience involving accounts, data analysis, business process review and/or audit.
Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and advanced computer user level competence is highly desirable.
Relevant work experience in UN agencies or organizations is an advantage.
Fluency in English (verbal and written). Knowledge of another UN Language is an asset.
Thai Nationality only.
